Against the backdrop of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) adopted at the United Nations Summit in September 2015 and growing interest in global environmental and resource issues, renewable energies such as solar power generation, wind power generation, and biomass power generation are becoming more popular. , the global shift to EVs is accelerating. At the same time, in Japan, a series of electricity system reforms, including the complete liberalization of the electricity retail market, have created many new electricity sources with various backgrounds.

The rapid changes in the energy environment in recent years have not only revitalized Japan as a whole, but have also led to a shift from the traditional centralized energy system to a decentralized energy system. Distributed energy systems are expected to contribute to the SDGs by creating regional economic circulation and creating diverse and innovative business platforms due to their characteristics.

In particular, the electric power field has a high affinity with the latest information technologies such as cloud computing, AI, IoT, and blockchain, and is expected to revolutionize the conventional electric power system, including virtual power plants (VPP) and resource aggregation. This is highly anticipated and feasibility studies and demonstrations are being conducted. However, the reality is that there are still many challenges to the dissemination and commercialization of these technologies. In order to overcome these challenges, we have started a joint research project with Kyoto University.

<overview>
Optimizer Group, based on the ICT technology and big data analysis know-how cultivated through many years of web marketing, has developed the ``Ene Partner Series,'' a cloud-based integrated energy management system that fully automates electricity retail operations ahead of the industry. The research and development was also selected as a new energy venture technology innovation project by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), obtained three related patents, and was released in June 2018.

In addition, the Ene Partner series is being developed to implement platform functions for resource aggregators with an eye toward distributed energy utilization, and our company, which sells and introduces the series, has been designated by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry as a member of the General Incorporated Association for Environmental Protection since this fiscal year. We have also been selected as a resource aggregator for the FY2018 Virtual Power Plant Construction Demonstration Project Subsidy Utilizing Consumer-side Energy Resources (VPP Aggregator Project), a demonstration project publicly solicited through the Co-Creation Initiative, and will conduct VPP demonstration projects. It has been decided.

Our company will collaborate with the Kyoto University Graduate School of Energy Science to analyze and research data and knowledge obtained through the series of development and demonstrations of the EnePartner series, a cloud-based integrated energy management system. Based on these research findings, we aim not only to demonstrate technology but also to realize social implementation that can create regional economic circulation and contribute to SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).

■Kyoto University Graduate School of Energy Science
The Graduate School of Energy Science brings together a wide range of academic fields such as engineering, science, agriculture, economics, and law in order to overcome various issues related to energy and the environment. Established in 1996 with the philosophy of "We aim to establish the principles of energy science as an interdisciplinary field while incorporating various viewpoints, and develop human resources with an international perspective and advanced professional abilities who will contribute to the harmonious coexistence of the global society." was founded. In the more than 20 years since then, energy and environmental issues have taken on a variety of aspects. The large-scale earthquake disaster caused by the Tohoku Pacific Coast Earthquake of 2011 and the accompanying accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant made many people aware of the fragility of energy systems. Nowadays, there is a need to build new energy systems that are disaster-resistant and environmentally friendly. At the Graduate School of Energy Science, we aim to build an energy system that adapts to this kind of society, from research to develop basic technologies to support it, to research from social aspects such as economics, policy, and education to introduce it. While conducting cutting-edge research from an international perspective, we strive to cultivate human resources who will play a central role in this field in the future.
